Posted by Gerry on 10/22/2003, 1:01 pm Now I want to upgrade to another laptop which I bought for my daughter and is almost a clone, but not quite. casing is almost identical etc If I go to the newlaptop, its a painful route to start from scratch installing O/s and all over again the progs. So what if I merely fit the old laptop drive ghost image on the new laptop drive and preinstall in a special folder all the drivers that the new laptop users , so that when I finish the ghost img restore to the alien host that when it complains about missing drivers etc I can via safemode point to those drivers as hardware detects, which I assume will take place. Has anyone done this procedure and will it work as I described and hope for or will it prove a fruitless incompatible excercise. Will windows run on this alien laptop ?, will it default to safemode, will it complain or at least give me a fast track route to using the old laptop drive all intact ? Just curious and willing to try, for obvious benefits thanks for any advice Gerry
