Have we always had awful governments?

Are any of them any good?
Have any of them looked after the British people?

Guy Fawkes- the only person to enter parliament with good intentions.

They're good to start, then get greedy and complacent. After that it's self serving greed all the way to the basement.
The fact that 110 Tory MP's ( including Hunt)are property landlords has nothing to do with the fact that banning ' No Fault' evictions has been dumped overboard.

        It is an impossible job.
You just have to read this board.
All here with same desire (successful LTFC) and yet hugely different opinions and attitudes.

Are you saying that Labour didn't rebuild this country for the better, including founding the NHS, in 1945?

                What a silly comment.

Are you trying to change history to suggest it has been Labour ever since?

I've voted in every election since 1970, and on reflection, I think that whilst some governments introduced a few good measures, they have generally been self serving and poor. Probably the least bad government I can remember was the Con/Lib coalition between 2010-15. To be fair, most incoming governments have inherited poor financial circumstances, the notable exception being Labour in 1997, who made shoring up their power base their top priority, at the expense of scheduled new Tory infrastructure projects, like the much needed M12, which were cancelled. This, despite inheriting an economy that was about to boom. If ever a government had the opportunity to improve the country, that was the one.

How you can bemoan the Labour government of 1997-2010 yet herald the 2010-15 regime is beyond me.

Oh, and the M12 was cancelled in 1994. Three years before the Labour government.

Correct. It was me who announced it. I was Secretary of State for Transport at the time.

Now, let’s have a quick look shall we -

the minimum wage, Sure Start, smaller class sizes, huge investment in schools, the shortest hospital waiting lists for 40 years, 11 years of uninterrupted economic growth – to name just a few of the benefits that helped the poorest in society. Not to mention peace in Northern Ireland, devolution and a constructive relationship with our European partners. All achieved by sensible social democratic policies that focused on delivery, not rhetoric.

What about the 2008 financial crisis that liebour ignored ( that everyone knew was brewing )
1997 when labour got in power they had a "once in a lifetime chance" to do some good.

Instead bliar took us into an unwinnable war , and became the USA bitch in Britain. Useless

It was a global financial crisis mate. The clue is in the word ‘global’. And if you think the finances were in a mess in 2008 then you want to check now. Even Michael Gove doesn’t blame the GFC on Labour.

It was Dubya who led us into Iraq btw and the Tories voted for it too. Do keep up.
