I was in Scratby in Norfolk last week, between Caister and Hemsby. I walked into a pub with some Luton Town “leisurewear” on and the lad behind the bar asked me when my first match had been. I said 1968 why? He said fair enough then, he’d had people in in Luton stuff all summer, and it seemed as much a fashion as anything to many. Don’t suppose much of it was official merchandise mind, but it’s amazing what a year in the Premier League can do
