      Excellent effort.

Shame our government aren't doing similar.

It is a great thing to do if you have a few quid. I don’t think that area is short of trees though. James Dyson is a better example for planting trees in areas that desperately need them.

You don't need a few quid to plant trees. Just collect the seeds for free. Nature will provide everything you need.

Conkers, push them into a pot of compost, water them they will grow.

          Maple seeds, also grow easily.

          The same with Acorn seeds.

Make your own compost, collect fallen leaves, shred them, put them in an old dustbin or bin bag then let nature take its cause.

The one expense you might find is the pots to grow them in. Friends, neighbors etc most probably have old pots that you can use, if not make your own out of egg boxes.

Its not rocket science, & it doesn't cost you a penny, just a little bit of your time.

          Yes.
But didn’t you favour Hs2, ancient woodlands, cough.

I maintain HS2 is a great thing with benefits vastly outweighing costs - albeit costs hit ridiculously out of control. Why is it that we don't seem to be able to deliver anything on time and for a sensible fixed budget.

I love the idea of seriously high speed trains but it was stupid vanity that made us choose SUCH a high speed. It could have been so easier on nature and people's lives, so much cheaper if a more standard speed could have been selected.

If the main point was to increase capacity as I often hear then it was very poorly conceived.

Unfortunately in its reduced state it will certainly not deliver value. That money could have been so much better spent.
