Few realise what they have spent on their promotion bid and fed up with the “fairy tale” story when they are paying huge wages.
I’d rather Leeds take runners up.

Indeed it doesn't say anything about what they have spent. But they made considerable losses in the past 2 years in League 1 (over 18m last year) and we saw that they could match or exceed Championship wages then.
The owners are IIRC a US pension fund and I expect the aim was to spend a load of money getting to the PL so they can offload at a profit. To an extent they have already been successful as they sold 40% of the club for 100m.
L1 doesn't have the same FFP restrictions as the Championship, so they would have had 3 years to get them up before they would have had to potentially cut back and just become another Stoke or Middlesbrough.
