    Our points deductions

Posted by Non-League Yaya Toure on 8/4/2024, 15:01:01

Can someone remind me how many deducted points we got and for what?

    -10 for administration
was it another -10 for payment to agents from the wrong account or -20?

    No appeal possibility

Basically it was for cheating and the punishment should have been -50 points. Hope this helps.

        To my mind:

30 because they thought we were cnuts.

-20 for the admin because it was the third, handily overlooking that one of them had been done to get rid of Gurney. Which the FA and FL sure as shit weren't going to do.

          Cheating is cheating.

Just wait to see what happens to Udinese when Pozzo's crimes come to light.

As you say "cheating is cheating"

          My recollection is:

          -10 for into administration
          -20 for out of administration
-10 for payments (of about £150k, including a the laying of a patio in an agents back garden)

The first -10 relegated us from league 1. The next -30 the season after from league 2. Won the JPT though.

We would have been relegated from League 1 even if we weren't deducted the first 10 points.

True. The embargo and having to sell Edwards and Coyne, plus sending that Polish lad back from his loan is what did more damage.

The 20 was for out of admin without a CVA.

But at that point HMRC were objecting to all football club CVA's, so we were told even if we paid 100 per cent of the debt, they would still object.

                Yep: https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2008/jul/11/lutontown.leaguetwofootball

The 20 points was due to a combination of exiting without a CVA (basically impossible to agree a CVA at the time) and the third administration.

We appealed (and lost) the 10 point deduction but had to waive our right of appeal on the 20 points as a condition of remaining members of the football league.

Also ignored that one of admins was basically essential in order to stop Gurney shutting the club down1

And 1st one was just a spat between Kohler & Bassett and Cliff put the club into admin to get rid of Kohler.

Meeting was pre planned and outcome railroaded through with our mitigation ignored. Threatened with extinction if we appealed. IIRC we were the first and only club to be effectively fined £100k to pay certain debts of the previous shysters regime.
