    Championship promotion places….

Posted by Swansea Hatter on 29/3/2024, 20:23:38

Should we survive relegation against all odds, who would we want to come up from the Championship? Ipswich surely, Leicester due to their financial issue and Coventry sneaking the play offs (as the team in the mix with the lowest budget - and in loving memory of Fankaty Dabo’s penalty)???

What about if we go down, who would we like to see up and away to give us the best chance of bouncing straight back up?

PS - I wonder what happened to the ball that Dabo blasted into orbit - did it reach our fans? Does someone have it on their mantelpiece??

Ipswich surely ? They have a 29000 seat stadium and if they get short of cash im sure Ed Sheeran will stump up a few quid..
If we go down. Personally I think we would do well to be in the play offs next season.

Disagree. I think play-offs will be the minimum result.

The Championship, despite media hype saying otherwise, is shite this season from what I've seen. It won't be any better next. The gap between Div 1 and 2 is getting wider

We're staying up anyway but even so...

Hmmm, I think we would be doing that with a quite different squad though. Not everyone would leave obviously but I think a few have done well enough to earn interest from Premier League clubs.

We'd lose 3 or 4 but for good money, much of which would be available to the recruitment team to work their magic.

I know having money to spend isn't everything (one of our rare big failures in recruitment was Giles and we paid a, relatively, big sum for him) but I would trust that money would get wisely invested

Honestly, I've seen a fair bit of C'ship football on the telly box and it really isn't that good

We'd lose 3 or 4 in addition to the loanees going back I meant, of course

Who do you reckon would go? I’d say Mengi, Osho (out of contract), Doughty, Barkley most likely. They’ll be others too, of course, but that’s who I reckon from the core ‘first 11 plus subs’ group. Would have added Adebayo to that list too but his injury may mean he doesn’t attract as much attention

Mengi, Doughty, Barkley and maybe Adebayo too

As you say, Adebayo's injury record is against him, at the moment. Osho might go but seems to have fitness issues too

I wonder if Kaminski would attract a bid from a newly promoted side?

If we survive against the odds, will anyone care who gets promoted from the Championship.

The ball didn't get blasted into orbit, it got blasted into the Luton end. Yes, someone has it and surprised they haven't tried to sell it yet.
