Cheo’s 1v1 for the ROI
Posted by Adhat on 25/3/2024, 13:05:57
Cheo had a a great 1v1 against the Belgian goalkeeper at the weekend. He got into a great position with his speed cutting from the left hand side but his shot was nearpost and he missed the target. If he had scored his value would be 25 M UK pounds. I don’t blame him, he has been played as a wing back most of the season. I think it a shame that he hasn’t been developed as a striker given his pace. Basic shooting practice or even working on composure to pass the ball into the net. Brian Stein was far from the finished article when we signed him as a winger.
Agreed - with the PL high lines there is always room behind even the best teams. Ogbene could be a good threat running in behind but perhaps because of the injuries he always seems to be getting the ball too deep. I was reading another forum post about him and some guy who knew him from Ireland said he needs that composure to be a decent PL threat. I am not sure about him out wide - perhaps I am wrong by I don't remember too many decent balls he has put in?
Did you watch the game - if so, was the Belgium keeper injured. I saw that Kaminski played the last few minutes and wondered if he might get the chance to play at Wembley tomorrow.
It was Kaminski's debut after quite a long haul of being selected in squads. Basically being rewarded with a few minutes action would be how I'd understand it.
Even among top players, there is two different types. Naturally gifted and grafters. Obviously, most teams "have" to rely on the grafters. The gifted move on rapidly. The two that spring to mind for me,(as an example of both being successful) are Kenny Dalglish and Kevin Keegan.
