    Complaint

Posted by Sad Hatter on 22/3/2024, 10:39:16

I sent a "complaint" of sorts into the Club over two weeks ago regarding the complete balls up they've made to the Oak Road end.

Carefully worded - offering constructive feedback - but not even so much as an acknowledgement.

What happened to Gary's "none of this billy big bollocks" stuff? Opinions of fans no longer matter evidently.

Can he not send emails from his new Merc?

(BTW - the "complaint" was how unsafe they have now made that end without investing in extra facilities. Some old boy got squashed and nearly crushed against the wall at half time last weekend).

I think we were spoilt previously for space and numbers ,just like the rest of the ground now "busy" so just get on with it.

If it helps I’ve also sent an email to the club, and I haven’t heard back either.

Maybe they are having time off due to no football this week.

        I’ll try again next week.

This from below should help you. Maybe your email wasn't redirected properly - who did you send it to?
Though your post doesn't indicate a 'constructive' approach, to be honest...

I see they are planning to put some safe standing in the enclosure, the problem with increasing the capactity is it is already quite chaotic after the game as everyone seems to want to exit the opposite end to where they sit.

So given the level of general ignorance it's can be unsafe for old duffers, and local cripples such as myself to leave, and if god forbid you decide to wait then you upset people as they want to climb over you or your seat.

I am extremely sceptical about this idea. I can only see it being feasible from the tunnel to the Oak Road and I wonder how much extra capacity can actually be gained and whether it's worth the cost.

Extending it further along will really upset a lot of people, there are also small children to take into account. The access problems you point out will actually become a lot worse with rail seating.

I think will actually be a nightmare.

I thought that the main gain in capacity came from removing the segregation area in the Oak Stand. Not sure what there is to gain in J Block.

yeah, totally agree, putting it in the main part of the enclosure C-G (?) would be insane and a total pain in the arse.

I'm an old duffer, and although not crippled, I am very dodgy on the old pins, having two knackered knees. I find it difficult to exit the ground at the end, as I need to leave the opposite end to where I sit. Keeping my balance with people coming the other way is an art.
I find it easier to leave before the final whistle, which I hate doing, or wait 5 to 10 minutes for clearance.

It's a problem that can't be helped unfortunately, closing Mattress alley doesn't help, but probably necessary.

I used to go an stand by the exit for injury time but given joint and balance issues it's dodgy getting out when I used to be able to step over the back of my seat.

the procedure for a lot of being seems to be wait for the team and RE to be gone, that blunder your way out and if you happen to wipe someone else out so be it

It's not great at half time either, trying to get about. The kiosk seems to have sorted itself out though with people queuing from both sides or just skipping both queues and going straight to the middle one through the gap in the barrier.

Although very far from ideal it's absolutely brilliant compared to the utter shite at Crystal Palace. As are the toilets.

Yes, that's exactly what I was referring to. Granted there may be a few more kiosks etc but it's pretty much been the same space for decades.
