Maybe the Premier League will appeal points deduction. It works both ways !

One of my brothers suggests 4 could be just about the right amount of deduction to make Forest question an appeal and not bother for the benefit of not dragging this thing out beyond the playing season and therefore making the PL look completely incompetent.

Seems to be feasible. The idea that punishments are set at a level that is agreeable to the guilty is just about what I would expect from the fa tbf.

You have completely misunderstood my question which is what happens when you start in the wrong place, which you often do.
The Premier Leagues 'authority' in the case ended when they raised their complaint about Forest with the independent Commission in January.
The speed of the process since then is wholly down to the Commission and they are on schedule.
I presume you mean the Premier League when you talk of "the authorities". They would only impose the sanction as determined by the independent Commission. Nobody can meddle with points tallies.
Rather than being completely incompetent, as you suggest, the Premier League have actually been completely competent throughout the whole process.
The rules around FFP are extremely complicated but the process in dealing with those in breach is pretty straightforward if you bother to take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with it.
