Didn't expect anything different to be honest and it will be reduced on appeal.Cheating plain and simple with very little penalty. Another reason not to bother about the rules. This would scare me though if I were a Forest fan Since promotion Forest have signed 42 players at a cost of about £250m, helping them retain their Premier League status last season.

        So, 1-2 points on appeal?

        Might as well cheat.

          That's the message isn't it?

Leicester will be rubbing their hands with glee - all they need to do now is get promoted and they can go on a spree.

So basically just break the rules and sign players you think will get you more than 4 points over a season. What a joke.

Overspend by tens of millions. Good job that, following their departure from the club having asset stripped the lot, it didn’t come to light that a criminal and incompetent former owner (now disappeared with the cash) didn’t pay for an agent to have a new patio. They’d have THROWN THE BOOK then.

If I have understood it right they had a bid for the player that would have kept them within the rules but believed that they could get more money so delayed it a couple of months.

That netted them an extra 17.5 million in fairness which they are arguing made them more sustainable, fair point.

On the other hand they deliberately took a risk knowing that it would mean them breaching the rules . . .

Johnson played three league games (and one cup) for them this season including a win over Sheffield United. What would have happened if he had suffered a serious injury in one of them?

That's partly what I meant by "On the other hand they deliberately took a risk ", they could also have not received a significantly larger bid for him.

That is irrelevant because the excuse was clearly made up after the event. You’d have to be an idiot not to realise that. Step forward the FA.

They only received a low offer because they were in breach of the rules in the first place, they wouldn’t have received it if they weren’t

I agree with you all, it's the fact that they were quite deliberate about causing the breach that makes this a worse breach than it would otherwise appear.

That's not an excuse. Wolves were closing to breaching the limit, so they made some sales to ensure they kept within the rules. No doubt they could have got more for those players if they had held off.

They also played that player, during that period, in a win over Sheffield United. Which IMO is worse than the Everton case.

Poor argument, basically "yeah we know we broke the rules but it's not fair". Being deducted 4 points, possibly less after the appeal, is a total joke.

+1 I jumped the gun, awaiting an official release. I reckon it could be -4 but un able to appeal?

                            Would make more sense imo.

Everton - 10 points reduced to 6. Forest 4 and they can get that reduced on appeal

For, basically, the same offence. Absolute farce

It would be fucking just and incredibly funny if they appeal it, stayed up by a point then had the deduction increased

I'd have thought 6 was the precedent, would be interesting to here what the difference is between Everton's and Forest for it being lower.

Especially considering Everton's was an initial 10...

The idea that spending £200m or whatever on transfer fees, buying 45 players in one year and paying lingard £100k a week only made them 4 points better over 2 season is as laughable as the fa is gutless.

Maybe not lingard, but you get my point. Our free transfer signing of ogbene has likely been worth 3 points imo.

It's also immoral that Forest employ former respected referee, Mark Clattenburg. He regularly comments on the decisions made in Forest matches, so the match officials feel under pressure to favour Forest.
