End of season farce the Premier league will want to avoid

    Posted by Bt20 on 3/3/2024, 14:43:09

Should Forest and Everton appeal their upcoming points deduction, it won't be decided until aftet the end of the season.
This will not only reflect poorly on the premier league but also could open up the litigation floodgates with regards the "integrity of the competition" for clubs who were safe but were relegated after a successful appeal by Forest or Everton. Would there not be a case for those clubs to appeal against relegation in these circumstances.
Or will the PL be unduly leniant and not deduct any points to avoid embarrassment.

(Sorry that I’ve said this before) If we got above forest without a deduction that would be a great help to the FA. Unless Burnley or sheff United find some unlikely form, they can appear then to be very masterful (they could probably knock off 10 each) without actually making any difference. It also wouldn’t upset scousers, which of course we should never do, poor sausages.

In short, Luton finding a bit of form would be a right result all round.

The whole thing is fcuking preposterous though. They both willfully cheated clear rules and thought they’d get away with it. The equivalent would be like negotiating a retrospective time penalty with lance armstrong and then demanding that he gave back 5 of the 10 Tour de France titles, but kept the other 5 because he’d won by more minutes.

The beneficiaries of sanctions should be Leeds and Leicester (and potentially us for this season) but I’m not sure how you’d sort that tbh.
