Villa 2nd goal - quick free kick taken after a booking?

Posted by BevHatter on 2/3/2024, 20:25:32

So the game all slowed down and must have "stopped" as burke was booked. Then all of a sudden they take the quick free kick but I'm fairly sure there was no whistle to recommence play and hence we were on the back foot. How does that work?

Referee does not have to blow his whistle for the game to restart after a foul or a booking.

Villa were quick thinking while we slept.

Like keeping two of yours on before half time. It was like 12 men v Villa

Prem refs.... interpret the rules how they decide ... as evidenced in the week with no added time

            As evidenced every week k!

Although, in fairness, I thought the ref generally did quite well. Certainly didn't seem shy to hand out yellows to the Villa.

I agree. Apart from the slightly strange scenario for the 2nd, I thought Oliver had the best ref performance of our season so far.

Must disagree... Rodgers chopped Kabore down immediately after half time with a trailing leg no card given....when he did it again 5 mins later he did get a card, he then went on to foul 4 or 5 more time shortly afterwards which is why I assume Emry subbed him off even though he was s sub himself. Also Luiz very lucky not to get a 2nd yellow when he kicked Barkley...not having a go Godders just a difference of opinion

We were naive.... every other team has somebody stand on the ball not allowing it to be taken quickly but we just wandered away with our backs to the ball

Its quite obvious there is a huge bias for long standing PL reams. I think Oliver is the best referee in this country but today he wad shocking for a lot of decisions.

It's like the FA want us relegated....

"The fa / premiershite want want us relegated "

Only since 1885. If the referee gets spotted ss making mistakes ( against the big clubs ) they get relegated to the non league as punishment )

The ref did well for 20.minutes after halftime, then he realised he'd let luton back.into it.

No second cards , Chong got systematically kicked off the park

                  That's the premiershite rules....

I expected nothing different from match officials this season.

What I did expect though was that the country's supposed elite officials would be a hell of a lot better at dealing with the Wycombe Wanderers level of time-wasting. Neither yellow cards nor time added on.

I'd love to see stats for added time in games where we've been ahead or level at 90 mins compared to when we've been behind. I reckon the average for the former will be about double the latter.
