    David Moyes

I don’t mind him tbh and think he has done a pretty decent job at West Ham…if only Manure had given him a bit more time.
However the lack of understanding he and loads of other Premiershite clubs have about the football pyramid in this country is appalling. Not sure of this stat but don’t more people watch non Premiershite football than Premiershite.
Anyway this rant is aimed at his statement last night as reported on the BBC “ Moyes added he had "no problem" with Benrahma's red card, but added it was "amazing they call this one of the biggest cup competitions but we don't have VAR in all the games”
Because David it costs a fucking fortune and most ground don’t have it ….hope that helps!!

"don’t more people watch non Premiershite football than Premiershite."

In absolute terms, yes. In 2021/2021, an aggregate of 15m attended Premier League matches compared to an aggregate of 17.5m watching the EFL. Take into account non league and the second number would be higher again.

It's probably worth noting that there were just 380 Premier League games combining to reach the 15m figure as opposed to 1,160 for the EFL total.

No wonder Moyes wants VAR as long as it throws up the same result as when Ward-Prowse played basketball in the WHU penalty area in injury time at KR.

Simple fact is WHU couldn't score a goal.
Moyes decides its VAR/no VAR's fault

The hypocrisy of football managers is something else at times.

They're happy to criticise VAR when it's there, and then also when it's not. Anything to distract attention away from them.

Isn't that exactly it! Criticise it when it's there, complain when it isn't!

Essentially it also adds weight to the whole VAR being nonsense thing. It just adds another level of debate and perhaps, takes a bit of pressure off refs - or just confuses them!

As someone who has always stated that VAR in principle is a good thing but it is the implementation that is a major problem I'm beginning to think that it should be scrapped but I do think there is a role to play in assisting the refs with video evidence and technology. But it surely must be for clear and obvious mistakes or say, off-the-ball incidents that the ref didn't see at the time. I know this is going over the same old debate but if an incident can't be clarified with video evidence after just a few seconds then surely there isn't a clear and obvious error and the ref's original decision should stand.

I agree with both of you but my point was more the cost involved with VAR …a large chunk of our summer spending was to ensure we were VAR compliant …most clubs simply can’t afford to make that commitment.

I realise that was your point about costs but it just reminded me about my frustrations with it.
