The referee today was atrocious. What is it with ref's always favouring the big boys. It was this ref who messed up the Liverpool goal.
Absolute disgrace, and something needs to be done to sort the standard out. Too much bias to the bigger, wealthier clubs.

The one outrageously bad decision(s) was when he booked and gave a foul against Barkley only for an almost identical situation the other way round 5 minutes later and Ross didn’t even get a foul….very odd. Noticeable how respectful Eddie Howe ( like super Rob) is to the officials compared to Klopp & Pep.

It was the opposite of outrageously bad. Barkley was tugging his shirt as they broke before making the superb tackle. Nailed on yellow card.
It did look like Barkley was fouled a few minutes later but the referee was in a great position and nobody made anything of it so must have been another superb tackle on probability.
I thought the ref was excellent.

Both incidents were pretty much in front of me …first instance they had hold of each others shirts …maybe a foul but the reverse was when Ross was clearly pulled back and he complained to the referee so did make something of it .

The oppo player had no reason to have hold of Barkley's shirt he was away from him, the only reason Barkley was able to make the tackle was he had pulled him back.
We must be talking about a different second incident, I'm referring to the one where the oppo player seemed to jump into a covering tackle when Barkley had got away.

He was great in the first half - didn't give a foul either way for 25 minutes. It was as if someone got to him in the second half - usual preference to the "big" club.

He was decent, but sure gave Newcastle a slight advantage in the 50/50 situations. He did, however, make up for part of that when he blew the whistle when the added time was over instead of adding a few extra minutes.
