    Mengi as captain?

Posted by Earls on 22/12/2023, 14:01:56

Obviously, there are other good candidates. But the only guaranteed outfield starters are Doughty, Mengi, Osho, Barkley and Nakamba.
Barkley and Nakamba might be a bit quiet. Osho has potential, possibly too injury prone? Sure, Mengi is young. But he’s settled in brilliantly, he’s got a good presence and his interviews suggest he could have authority too.
I’m not saying he’s the guaranteed best choice, of course, I’m just surprised he hasn’t (afaik) been suggested here before.

Barkley for me, get him totally involved in the hope that he stays after this season.

That's one I'd considered, actually. Depends who plays in the middle.

        Cheers, Jim

Maybe we could just wait until tomorrow and see what RE decides.

I can happily talk guff about politics if you’d rather football opinions aren’t voiced.

It will be Bell or Osho, if Pelly doesnt start. Mengi is still finding his way.

I thought Mengi was on loan to us. Maybe not. A couple of weeks ago Morris was a guaranteed starter but a lot can change in a short time in football.

No, he was a permanent signing . . . which every week is looking like a better and better decision.

Absolutely. If the worst happens he’ll be a brilliant Championship CB

Yes, although that's a bit negative. A minimum 7 points over the Christmas period should be well within our grasp which will start to put the skids on the likes of forest, palace, etc.
