Was out first season back in the second tier for over ten years.

We lost our star young ‘one of our own’ defender (Curtis Davies) and signed a couple of free transfers that most were fairly non-plussed about when they signed (some Finnish guy from Aberdeen, a full back no one had heard of from Wrexham and a young winger from Reading with an attitude problem).

We had a journeyman centre forward who most didn’t think would cut it at Championship level and a squad of players who were virtually untried above the third tier.

Most of our own fans bar the optimists didn’t give us too much of a chance.

That season we finished 10th and were in the playoff places for a great deal of the season.

    Just saying... COYH

Davies wasn't sold until after a few games. So less doom and gloom.

Plus it gave us Palace away on the first day of the season, without doubt one of my favourite days as a Luton fan

4-2 from memory, it was 4-0 at h/t. Carlos from the halfway line with one of them.
