    VAR nonsense strikes again

England goal disallowed - remember if we ever get a VAR game then we must not celebrate a goal straight away but wait 45 seconds until the review is complete then politely clap. At least bookings for players taking off their shirts celebrating will disappear.

If it is here to stay and it looks as though it is, I would like to see it that each team can have a set amount of appeals (one per half, two per game or something like that). If the appeal is successful, they retain the appeal but if they are wrong they lose it. Still doesn't solve the problem that you mention but would reduce the amount of times that it is used in a game.

The very fabric of watching football will be changed by VAR. You go to games to celebrate that moment the ball crosses the line/hits the back of the net. A spontaneous outbreak of celebration

Take that away and you have a very different viewing experience

They'll end up reviewing every goal too as refs will be shit scared of missing something and getting criticised. And, just like rugby league all spontaneity of celebration will be gone

It's fukking shit. Let refs and linesmen make mistakes (like players do)

Agreed. The fan's experience has not even been mentioned in commentary just now. Just - right decision, same for both sides, good for the neutral.

          Well said.

As soon as we let people keep saying "football is a business" we lost. Of course it is business but things like VAR are all about those with the most money wanting to avoid the chance that someone gets lucky against them.

It's akin to watching a farce and having them review every other punchline for political correctness before you can move on.

          Utterly wrong for live football.

            Exactly

The media don't care. For them it will heighten the 'dramatic tension'

About time the FSF, SD and other fans groups worldwide started speaking out against it

I like the goal line technology as that is instant. There is no way that VAR will work as quickly. It'll get to the stage where the ball will go in and no-one will celebrate for fear of being disappointed. And that will destroy it for me

Also, how far do you go back in the phase of play? Do you roll back a few seconds, a minute, 2 minutes to try and find something wrong?

I am always of the opinion that if you are good enough, the tiny margins that VAR will sort out shouldn't matter. The teams who play the best football in any given competition will generally win the promotions and the trophies, There will be exceptions but not many

Their is nothing good about watching England.
