If N. Jones had stayed with us and finished the job

Then he would probably be in a good position for the Brighton job now, and who of us would have begrudged him leaving for them?

Instead he's someone who is on an expensive contract to buy out at Stoke, having finished in the bottom half with 3 wins in half a season, and with a bit of an air of having been "found out" at a higher level. I doubt he'll even make their longlist.

Hughton could probably do a decent job at Stoke

        14/1 4th favourite now.

Not a chance would they give it to someone who had never managed above the third tier in any country. Clubs like Brighton are terrified of dropping out of the premier league, they wouldn’t ‘risk’ an appointment like Jones regardless of past connections with the club.

I was replying to a comment that said if he’d stayed at Luton and won league one he’d be in a good position for the brighton job. If he had done that, he wouldn’t have already managed in the championship. Not that his half season at Stoke is a great audition anyway!

Graham Potter is the "red hot favourite" apparently.

Makes sense, he's done well at Swansea. But in theory a Nathan Jones who had just won League One playing good football with Luton, with a career clearly on the up, lots of positive press attention, and only a 1 million quid buy-out clause would have been a very strong candidate.

              Silly billy!

Maybe.....but given his lack of impact at Stoke so far. I think they will now feel they have had a lucky escape.

I think NJ is a good manager, but his track record so far shows he needs time. Unfortunately for him the higher up you go the less time you get. If he doesn't get this summer right in terms of signings and Stoke top 6 by Christmas. I think he will be out.
