We all know that, but the correct name is Eostre. Most mass religions have attempted to surplant our native fertility celebrations with man-made god stories

I'll bet that more people think Easter (named after the goddess Eostre, who could also be made up by a human ) is about Cadbury's chocolate eggs and Lindt chocolate bunnies than the resurrection of Christ.

              How so?

That interesting article is about the origins of the festival in spring that we call Easter and Christians have adopted to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Hardly earth shattering revelations and its not particularly trying to disprove Jesus or his resurrection - or if it trying to do so it is failing miserably!

i did not intend to challenge your belief, but i do challenge the coincidence of celebrating your beliefs at a time the pagans celebrated theirs Christianity continues to hijack pagan festivals.

These are usually the very same people who expect to have their right to enjoy a Christmas and an Easter break, and then expect people of other religions to have the right to enjoy their religious holidays.

It's weird how people like the thought of disproveing the existence of God. At the same time they are happy to worship a silly family that does nothing but sponge off them,we live in strange times.

If you are referring to our beloved Royal Family, then shame on you.
They work extremely hard, and I am happy that my taxes go towards supporting their good work.

The word 'silly' gave it away I suppose. You know what the bible says about worshiping false gods I hope. Love the work hard bit,at least you have a sense of humour.

Would you swap your life for theirs? The first thought is of course you would. In truth their privaleges aren't worth diddly squat. The Queen and her husband cannot do what they want, when they want, and their son and heir, past retirement age can't either and he hasn't even got the job yet. The next heir who supports Aston Villa can be looked after when he goes to Villa Park which is not even once a season. However the fact is he would at least get the opportunity to present the cup if his team ever does get to the final, but probably to the opposing captain while being forced to keep a dignified smile on his face. No you can stick that lifestyle

According to the Bible, Jesus Christ's death and resurrection occurred around the time of the Jewish Passover, which was celebrated on the first Full Moon following the vernal equinox. This soon led to Christians celebrating Easter on different dates.
