    Bradley signing

I wonder where this leaves Lloyd Jones?

Can't imagine Sheehan will play left back these days, but 2 left footed centre backs would also be unusual - so maybe a return to 3 at the back is on the cards, with Sheehan, Bradley and either Lloyd Jones or Rea (rotating as Rea may be needed as cover in defensive midfield sometimes)?

2 left footed center backs unusual?? Wouldnít be complaining if we played 2 right footed ones would you?

        Leftist!

Strange comment - it is generally better to play one left-footer and one right-footer if you are playing a pair, but as there are fewer left-footers around it is not always possible to field one and it ends up with two right-footers. That's not "leftist", that's just playing the cards you are dealt even though it is not ideal.

You could argue it's better to have a double left footed pairing than it is right footed.
Given the majority of strikers are right footed they have a tendency to dart towards their right when attacking which plays into a left footed defenders hands (or feet).

On the other hand, because right footed centre backs are way more common, most will at least spend some time playing on the left side of a two in training or in matches and so be used to it (for example John Terry is right footed but spent his entire career on the left side).

Because left footers are a lot less common, they invariably spend their entire careers playing on the left of a partnership, so would have to learn from scratch playing on the other side. I'd expect a lengthier adjustment period for a left footer on the "wrong" side as a result.

I was thinking of the Northern Ireland definition.

Fourth choice centre back I assume. He was fifth choice last season so he's still closer to the squad than he was.

Also with two left footed centre backs now you'd have to think 3 at the back will be a real possibility at times next season (i.e. Sheehan - Bradley - Rea) which would put Jones as first reserve.

No chance. Bradley is a leftie. Jones is a righty and is probably ahead of Rea as from next season.

Point is mate, £100k is a lot of money to spend on a 4th choice centre half at this level.

My understanding was he was bought for this coming season in mind. Assuming he is right footed, only way I can see him starting as you say is in a 3-5-2, with Senior and either Potts or JJ (whichever one stays), as wing backs.

Not sure if thatís NJís preferred formation though.

In all honesty I agree it seems a bit of a strange transfer thus far. I know Jones has said it's with a view to the long term and hopefully that pays off.

The January window did scream panic buys to me a bit. We were strongly linked to Bradley then that didn't pan out and ended up spending money on Jones instead and the Jervis one seemed to come out of nowhere, I guess Hylton was injured at the time and we didn't want to risk getting caught short when we had money to spare and a great chance to go up. Hopefully one or both will come good this season.

                    How does our recruitment work?

Harford identifies the players and Jones has final say?

From the rumours that have been floating around for ages about a certain agent turning his head I think it's a fair assumption that he'll be off sooner rather than later.
