Following on from that England thread below

Its odd. I actually feel a strange sense of optimism.I feel we will do better than the last world cup

No has beens, no pressure, no expectation. no overhype. No players that have consistently failed for years and years.

Possibly a QF place (at which point we will get stuffed by brazil or germany!) but possibly a tournament we can leave with our heads held high at least. FA can still go #### themselves though.

I`m actually liking southgate - he seems to be doing things his own way. And he isnt a glamour manager. A case of give an unproven manager a chance and he is giving unproven players a chance. Its all rather unnerving.

The last thing we need is England doing really well and getting even more non-football fans liking football.

QF at best..but if it gets a kid wanting to watch football..ad they end up at the kenny...and unknowingly signing up for years of misery then why not?

Is it really about what we need?
It's about what the country needs not just football fans, surely.

I agree with Nick on this one.
          I'm actually warming to it.

I'm hoping to get interested enough to watch some of it.

            Not holding my breath however.
But it'll be fun asking the Italian rellys how gli azzuri are doing...
