If NJ insists on keeping the diamond, how about moving Potts inside, and playing JJ at l/b?

Potts impresses me more and more every game. He's a proper defender.

He has good positional sense, good in the air and pace but I'm not sure that could make up for his lack of height and bulk against league 2 players!

I know Potts is able to play there but Sheehan is short enough already, I'm sure Potts is only 5'9?

Yep, I think Potts could do a good job as a centre back in a back 4 or back 5. But the only player he could replace in that position is Sheehan. You would play Sheehan and Potts together as your 2 centre backs or as 2 of 3 centre backs. And Sheehan will always play if fit. Best solution as many have said would to play Stacey and JJ down the right side, or even have Stacey as the right sided player in the diamond. But that would leave a large number of midfielders out of the team and unhappy. JJ could also cover left back when (yep, when) Potts gets injured.

That was yesterday morning when there were discussions about who should play in the back four/five.
