Men showing courage, and pride
(Srilankamirror) – JVP trade unionist K.D. Lalkantha asks 10,000 loin-cloth clad farmers to accompany him to Colombo to find solutions to their ilk.
He was speaking at a public rally in Anuradhapura.
Mr. Lalkantha told farmers that writing letters to chief minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake or beseeching gods would not bring solutions.
He ridiculed minister Johnston Fernando’s request for farmers to chant Pirith at Kala Wewa and ask for rain.
If that is his solution to farmers’ grievances, what purpose does a government serve, Mr. Lalkantha asked.
He said farmers should be compensated for their lost crops at the rate of Rs. 100,000 per acre.
