I will be updating the old pages from Litherland Digital, shown below, and will be posting on my website the story of the drainage scheme in 24 pages.
The Norwest Construction Co. Ltd. a Litherland firm based in Ruthven Road (off Bridge Road) was awarded this huge engineering project.
I have 2 excellent large format photos of the work being carried out in Sandy Road, Seaforth.

Looks like I missed out for the party, I went to Yorkshire just after dads funeral, and was there for some months, when I was away we had moved to Blisworth St. The mention of Ruthven Ave I think was my Mam and Dads first married home. Oddly I don’t recognise that pic of Balfe St but on the other set of shops on the same sid of Seaforth Rd we were in a cellar there during the May 41 Blitz, Balfe St was only short and went up to Church Rd. We had a party in Parr st,my Aunty Shelia brought some tins of fruit, The First time some of the children had tinned fruit, Uncle Wilf was in the merchant navy, sailed between Liverpool and Canada,or Portsmouth and Canada, he brought Boots for Gran and ladies in the family,I belive they were Boots that went over your shoes,
