Following on from the 1950 newspaper article about Ethel Orme saving a boy from the canal. I put the article in the mailbox of her old home at 38 Ascot Avenue so the owners now would know the story. I received a nice message from Stephen Cousins who now owns the house Quote Thanks for the newspaper clipping. The orme's used to have the newsagents on the corner of Bridge Road and Jubilee Road by the Red Lion pub. We bought the house from her family fifty odd years ago . The garage was under the electricity pylon and had it's walls insulated with wads of unsold newspapers ( The Echo) Harold Redding was still at 37 Ascot Avenue and had achieved Justice of the Peace status. His wife Mona was Mayoress of Litherland Unquote What a story eh ! Cheers! Obie
