The government kept these registers updated until 1991, if a person was still alive then their name would not appear because of the 100-year closure law the same as the census.
They also updated women's surnames if they married.
When these registers first came online, my mother's and my older brother's names were blanked out because they were still alive.
The website that hosts these registers updates them every so often with the names of people who have died that were originally blanked out - My mother and brother's names now appear on the register.
