I feel sure that Lowden Avenue, Watling Avenue, Ripley Avenue and Eltham Avenue were rented.
Eventually Jones would sell them to the tenant but wanted top wack for a poorly maintained house. So, he just waited until the tenants got older and sold the houses for what he could get.
The houses were built prior to the war and our house had only one electrical socket and that was in the living room. Used to drive the valve radio. And Jones refused to do any updates on the house despite the danger of the cloth covered wiring and the fire hazard. At the time the fire brigade recognised the problem but had no power to help the tenants.
And we were horrified when the council houses were built which spoilt our easy going life with fields all around. And then the houses were built on Gorsey Lane behind Lowden Avenue.
