I take on board your extensive experience in the matter and your ability to comment from what you have seen worldwide over several decades.
As you say, Ludicrous, simple, and, just too easy, they are just a bunch of lazy bigoted/bullies, arrogant by their ignorance.... perhaps not so ignorant though..?
Fair play to Sefton MBC for holding fast and pushing through a Judicial Review
2) Highways England has a remit which encompasses 'Motorways' and 'A' roads, that's it... that is what they do. If the HE proposal is rejected their only option is a tunnel. Litherland's A5036 road is saturated by demand far exceeding what it was designed to cope with. Everyone involved knows this, it is generally accepted now that it was offered as a red herring i.e. submitted to give a clear way for the RVC Park option to sail through... i.e. it was included as an option that would never work.
3) The Sefton MBC in their statement of objection say they want to see a third option included... a Tunnel, why no push for rail as a fourth option..? (maybe because Peel Ports have that covered).
A tunnel solves all the problems in that:
A) An alternative road/route is provided, that takes the strain off the A5036.
B) Answers the health and environmental issues
C) Removes completely the question/concern of green space/RVC Park being destroyed
OK a Tunnel option brings additional cost into the equation, and, because of budget's this seems to immediately dismiss a Tunnel… why should cost/financial budgets be a limiting factor with due regard to A, B and C above.
