My mother took me to see Dr Adams at the Linacre Road surgery because she was so worried about me being so thin and hardly eating.
I must have been 5/6 and can still remember it vividly - She pulled my vest up to show him my ribs and how thin I was and told him, that I only eat bread and sausages
He told her not to worry as to what I was eating could sustain me until I started eating a more varied diet.
I was prescribed malt extract to build me up, which came in big brown glass jars, this I got from the school clinic on Linacre Road, loved it and would lick the spoon clean.
I still eats lots of bread and love a good banger - I now weigh in at 15st 8ozs!
