In the 1880 Federal Gove Co. census on pages 195B and 196B there are two famililes that are likely McQuistons although neither spelling matches. Page 196B McQwestwin,I. W M 56 Farmer PA PA PA McQwestwin, Hannah W F 57 Wife Keeping House PA Ireland Ireland McQwestwin, Margaret W F 14 Daughter PA PA PA McQwestwin, Joseph W M 23 Son PA PA PA Page 195B McQuinton, William C. W M 23 Butcher PA PA PA McQuinton, Mallie M. W F 19 Wife Keeping House IL IN NY McQuinton, Maude W F 2/12 Daughter KS PA IL Gove Co. School District #5, in the August 15th 1885 School Census, shows a Rice and a McQuiston. Here the spelling is clearly McQuiston. Maggie Rice age 17 Emma McQuiston age 15 This school district includes the eastern edge of Gove County so some of the information you seek may be in the Trego County records.
