Asa Rice appears on page 200B, line 23 of the Federal Census for Gove Co. Kansas. On line 24, same page is John Rice.Here is the information shown for Asa: White Male, age 40, Married, Farmer, birth place shows "Native", no listing of birth place for mother or father. John: White Male, age 15, single, Farmer, birth place is Kansas, no birth place given for mother or father. Asa Rice is also listed as a Civil War veteran in "History of Gove County" and "History and Heritage of Gove County, Kansas" There are two other Rice families shown in Gove County in the 1880 census. Page 194A: Robert Rice, age 34, born in Tennessee with wife "Ager" age 26 and 7 kids from age 13 to 1 Page 194A: Henry C. Rice, born in Kentucky, age 29, and wife Amanda, age 32 and 4 kids from age 8 to 2.
