Any help will be : appreciated. : The Timothy Ladd (T.L.) Smith name appears on county records as early as 1886. Timothy and "Laura" are on the 1900 Gove County census. They were ranchers in southern Gove County along the Smoky Hill river. They owned several sections in Township 14S, Range 29W. The Goodwater and Tiffany Ranches were owned and operated by T. L. Smith. T. L. Smith was also involved in the first bank in Grainfield. There are comments about T. L. Smith in the history records. One reads as follows: [Pioneer Reminiscences of Mr. W.J. Heiney] (Talking about the bank reorganization sometime between 1905 and 1910) "So in the reorganization, T.L. Smith, James Sutcliffe and a Miss Smith became shareholders -- all fine people. A few months after that T.L. Smith met me one evening downtown (Grainfield)and during our conversation remarked with a smile 'Mr. Heiney do we have a board of directors?' We both laughed."
