Asa Rice and second wife "Maggie" are both found on Gove County resident lists from 1887 to 1890 in Buffalo Park. 1887 is the first year that these records were compiled. Maggie Rice, now a widow, is on the Benton County, Arkansas federal census for 1900. The children are Fred (b 1884)and Charles born 1891 in Kansas and Glen born in Arkansas in 1896. According to a report in ancestry.com Margaret McQuiston and Asa Rice were married in 1883 in Gove County. Gove marriage records do not go back that far so their marriage record would probably be in Trego Co. if it exists. Asa Rice was a civil war veteran, so there may be service and pension records available. Asa was one of the early settlers in Gove County, arriving before 1880 and appearing on the 1880 federal census for Gove County. Neither he nor wife Maggie show up on county records beyond 1890.
