I have to agree. I think the whole Harry Potter thing was just a case of "when reading became 'in'."
Most people that read Harry Potter and devoured the sequels were people who read it because it was *the* thing to be doing. And they raved so much because they found that they did actually get some enjoyment out of reading.
Whereas those of us who always have at least one book on the go would get much less satisfaction out of it.
Yes I did read the first one. I've read much better children's books, to be honest. The Narnia series anyone?
