Elsies at Whittington!

I can think of at least three souls that will be bringing a few Smith guns to the annual Rocky Mountain Vintagers event at Raton, NM this weekend. It should make for a very interesting weekend (it always is anyway!). If time allows, I'm planning on a lunch Saturday down in Cimarron, NM at the St. James Hotel. The Earps, the James Gang (and even Billy the Kid evidently) spent a little time there back when New Mexico was still a "Territory" and I'm hearing it's a worthy & interesting visit. Loading up for the big event now (and the long drive south over Raton Pass).

Competitor housing was comfy and convenient!

The views from the "Blue" course never dissapoint!

New Mexico is dry country!

I enjoyed shooting my Elsie at this event again this year along with my Stevens 16ga hammer gun! My second time for this event and looking forward to more!

Thanks Lloyd! Of course my hammer gun was not an Elsie but a Stevens. Only because I could not find a 16ga Elsie when I was looking for one and found the Stevens at a nearby shop for a good price. I do enjoy it as much as my Elsies.

Byron's in SE Kansas but I'm a front-range guy (most of the time). You should contact the Rocky Mountain Vintagers for information (ask for Bob or Bruce) on our next shoot. I'm headed to Minnesota shortly for my annual lake-house open-up and walleye slugfest. I should be back in early June!
