What usually wears more, the rotary bolt or the rib extension slot it mates to? I have an old trap gun that either needs a bit of weld added to the rib extension slot or a new rotary bolt and was curious what usually wore more due to metal hardness, etc.

John: possibly someone could confirm from Brophy's "Plans and Specifications", but I believe the medium carbon steel for the barrel, rib extension and hook would be the same, and much softer than the hardened rotary bolt
You might try a thin shim on the hook (I have used a Pepsi can ) and see if that doesn't tighten up the action.
