Recoil pad

I know this has probably been discussed before but my beloved specialty grade which has been shot countless times, the pad is slipping all over my coat! Is there anything I can do to help roughen it up? Thanks

Cover the surface of the pad with Velcro; worked on my A-2. Or maybe rub it down with a rosin bag (?); you can clean it up afterwards with a dab of turpentine. I'm sure there are other redneck solutions, but these are couple of mine for whatever they're worth.

Tom, is the pad slipping up or down when you shoot? I had a couple of Smith that would slip down on the first shot, disrupting my mount for the second shot. I added a pitch wedge between the stock and recoil pad (Pachmayr SC100) and it has solved the problem. You can try roughing up the sureface, as Tom Archer suggests, but my experience has been that it does little to help if you need more pitch.

It's slipping cause it's worn smooth from yrs of shooting. Buck Hamlin totally restored it probably 15yr ago stock case colors bluing etc. Has been my go to gun since then. Probably had 15k rounds through it since

I have taken a dremel tool with the sanding wheel and lightly scuffed a old slick pad before. It work fairly well.

Comparing the actions of the pads on My Fox XE
and Super Fox, the XE has a leather faced pad
which seems to have more surface friction.
You might try a piece of leather barely attached by rubber bands to experiment.
Steve has made a good point, however.
