Hammer guns

Are all the hammer screws ( into the tumbler) 4-40? The only one have to measure is a 10. Are the throws of all hammer types the same? Thanks Mark

Most of the ones I have and looked at were 4-40 threads. Not sure by what you mean by "throw".

Throw is the distance from the center of the axle hole to the center of the hammer nose. Just wondering if a C type III hammer would work on an earlier set of locks, and still hit the firing pin correctly?

I believe the C type would fit the older guns. The reason for the hammer changes according to old catalogs was that the shorter hammer would not be in the line of sight.
