Your gun is an early Hunter Arms Co. Fulton gun. I would guess it is a Quality 2 built in 1890. The buttplate is what Brother Drew stated and was used on these guns to show that they were good in the field as well as on the traps. |
Does you gun have anything written on the top of the barrels? I have some serial numbers later than your that do not have anything written on the barrel top.
Many of these gun I call Transition guns because they have the attributes of the Syracuse L.C. Smith's, wider for-end with a duck bill curve on the end, a vase shaped ebony tip, convex ribs on the bottom of the receiver, no writing on the top of the barrels, fine checkering (22 lpi).
