Thank you guys for the advise. If you would be so kind, I need information. The reason I am disassembling the receiver from the stock is there are 4 or 5 cracks running from tr receiver to the back of the safety. I would like to get the stock repaired. I have found online this could cost as much as $500. The gun is worth no more than $600. Does anyone know someone to repair a stock? Reasonable.
Wow 5 cracks is a lot but can be done. As for gun worth I love seeing the look on faces when I tell em I'm 3k into a gun worth 750 any day of the week. But I have no re greats because that's what I wanted . I can tell you this. The best chance you have to fix this is the first one ! If anyone disagrees please let me know I have one I would love to have "refixed"Wishing you the best and I don't think this helps. Mark
Thanks Mark. Like you, I love working and fixing old guns. I am not planning to shoot the LCS but I want them to look nice. In recent years I am more into 1911 pistol shooting. Back to the FW 12ga 1910. It has been shot a ton. Someone really loved this gun. Everything seems to be in working order except the cracked stock. I may have to pay a few bucks to get it done correctly. Hopefully someone can give me a suggestion
If you are handy you can repair the stock. First, remove the oil in the stock and then follow the instructions found in the FAQ in the New Page. Look in other collector web sites for additional information. Fixing a bad stock is not the end of the world! firstname.lastname@example.org
If you feel like a new stock would be better, there have been a couple for sale on eBay lately. Look for username gunstock4u2, they had a couple of unfinished stocks on there in the last couple of weeks.
