LC Smith double barrel shotgun

I have inherited a LC Smith 10ga double barrel shotgun hammers, 2 triggers.Etched on mid rib 'LC Smith maker of Baker gun, Syracuse NY. Damascus steel.Stamped in a couple of places is 8588 and 8588-B. Also etched is Baker patent / Pat'd
June 1st. 1880 / Pat'd Aug.31, 1875 / Jan.29,1878
It is in excellent shape and has beautiful scroll work on steel. I have pictures.
Any information would be appreciated and thank you.

Gene, unfortunately there are no factory records remaining on these guns. Your gun was probably manufactured in 1884 and is a Quality B. The Qualities went from A-F with A being the lowest. One of our greatest resources on this era of guns is David Williamson and hopefully he chimes in here with any additional info that he might have. If you can post photos that would be great or e-mail them to me or David for a better evaluation. Thanks, Tom
