Need help identifying gun

My father inlaw inherited an old LC SMITH double barrel 12ga.
I think its a No3. It has Hunter Arms Co Fulton NY on the barrel. I cant find any serial number anywhere.

Good morning, Glenn. Please take the forend off the gun and then move the top lever so the barrels separate from the receiver. You will find the serial # on the underside metal of the forend and the flat portion of the barrels and receiver. Post all numbers and letters that you find on the receiver. This will be a start and photos would be better. Someone here can help you with a bit more info. Tom

Glenn: be sure and fully open the gun to cock the hammers before removing the forend, and check out the FAQ and Shotguns sections on the Home Page for LOTS of information, including the date of manufacture.
A No. 3 would likely have 2 birds within an oval on the lockplate, and should have the SN engraved on the trigger guard extension.
Also consider a Research Letter. A No. 3 might have been special ordered by a family member. How cool would that be?
