Forearm for a #2 Grade LC Smith

What would be the proper style forearm for a #2 Grade LC Smith. I think it is a Feather Weight because it seems smaller than my other LC Smiths. It has Damascus barrels. The serial # is 43565

I too have the same question regarding the forearm of a grade 2 Smith with 32 inch barrels; some forearms are straight and some have a slight curve at the tip. The guage is 12 mfg. 1902.

It wouldn't have the little duckbill, they were no longer used by that year. They morphed out of existence in mid to later 1890's.
It would have a wedge shaped ebony inlay and a dog head medallion. It was usually checkered at about 20 lpi but , of course, you would checker to match the stock

Dan I appreciate you answering Kent’s Question and I am sure he does too. But I am not sure how to apply this to my original question. According to my serial # mine was made in 1897. What style should I be looking for and is there somewhere I could see a picture of that type of forearm?

James, I believe that yours would be similar to Kent's. By 1897, I believe only the hammer guns had the slight vestige of the curved forend tip.

A Lttle insite I have a Syracuse #2 Damacuse 30 inc tubes ser#31865 manufactured 1898 with curved duck bill ebony tip with double silver medillon on forearm no dog head medallion so date of manufacture predicates design variations. Tom D.

Well I got one off EBay today. I had to pay out the Wazoo for it but it’s worth it. It looks great. The checkering is beautiful and it has the Dog head emblem. I want to thank everyone who offered advice and help.

I believe it will. It seemed a little tight when I went to put it on so I did not force it. I am gonna take it over to my gunsmith and have him go through the whole gun. I read where the forearm might have to be fitted to the gun so I did not want to break anything by forcing it on. I will post some pictures when I get it all done. The forearm I got is the small one it has the ebony end and the Dog Logo on it. Very nice etching no scratches and the color is a dead on match.

did you make sure your gun is cocked before trying to attach the forearm????
