i have a 20 guage the fulton special serial number 3413x very nicely engraved with a woodcock on one side and grouse on the other the rest of the action is scroll eng. what is the date of manuf.? most importand where can i obtain a stock and forend wood for this gun either a take off or semi finished? the wood is beyond repair. any help would be appreciated this is to nice of a gun not to be restored.

Bob, If you check Year of Manufacture part of this web site, you will find that your gun was made in 1920. There are gunsmiths who can reassemble badly damaged stocks. If you are not satisfied with the repaired stock, it can be used as a mandrel to duplicate a replacement.

Bob, Could you post some pictures of the guns engraving ... I would love to determine if the work might be factory. I have had the discussion with a couple of members about "high grade" Fulton's and have some rubbings that I think are from a Fulton profile !?!? Be Safe, all, Jimmy B.

Bob, If you check the photo trail section of this web site and click on Hunter Arms Co. Fulton Guns, you will find pictures of Fulton Special guns. I recently ordered a new 20 ga.. When it arrives I'll be glad to send some photos if you provide an email address.

this sxs is a boxlock hunter fulton special it is factory engraved. the stock is checkered on the pistol grip and the cheeks on the sides of the stock. it is engraved with a woodcock on one side of the receiver and a quail or grouse on the other. it is border engraved and floral schroll engraved on bottom. the trigger guard is also engd. as well as the top of the receiver. the forend iron is also floral engrd. i wasnt aware they still manufactured guns. my gun was manuf. in 1920.

Bob, Of course you are correct; these guns have not been made for many years. This style of "hardware" box lock were inexpensive guns and most of them saw very rough service as farm and hunting tools. This helps to explain why pristine examples are becoming scarce. I recently purchased one that was supposed to be "new", but my FFL tells me that it is not as good as advertised. In any case, it was made in 1921 and I will post photos after I pick it up.

I have a 12 ga and have never seen another fulton special, though I've looked on all the gun websites. The engraving on mine and the checkering are exactly as Mr. Emery describes his. Mine was in pretty good shape when I found it, so I just had to have the varnish cleaned off of the stock and a new recoil pad put on.

A total of 3,475 Fulton Specials were made from 1918 to 1941.

Seems I've notice lately the Fultons are going up in price unlike the Field grade Elsies.
