This is a question for Dr. Jim. I bought a Marlin era Field gd 20 ga field grade #FWS50931 on an internet auction and it was listed as refinished wood, barrels.case colors, stock and cut battels.. From the photos I thought the CCs were original but the stock was shortened. My plan was to use this gun for hunting if it went cheap, it did. Now here's the problem (a good one) it's nicer than the one in my collection. and if the barrels are original 28" as they look, it will replace one in my collection. I can say it has the best Case Colors of any gun I own, as close to 100% as can be, and it is so stiff I wonder if it has been fired. Thanks for the help, Jeff Brant

Jeff:
Your 1949 Field Grade was shipped with 28-inch barrels.
