This L C Smith appears to be a pre 1913 built LCS and it is a OO grade gun, a very basic shotgun. Is it a 12 gauge ??? Jent

I have a 12 gauge very similar to this model. It was my grandfather's gun. He put a recoil pad on the back of it. I want to restore the gun. Would it be "better" to put another pad on it or find a replacement stock.
