Obviously the Hunter Brothers used all their good taste on building quality guns. If they had saved a little bit of class they would have used a Brittany as the Hunter Arms Mascot. The old saying that a gentleman hunts with a 20ga and a meat hunter hunts with a 12ga can also be applied here. A gentleman hunts behind a Brittany. Those of a lower class hunt behind Setters and Pointers. By the way...My Gentleman's Hunting Companion turned 3 years old today!

I will confess that Zeke is a pretty good dog. However, I prefer my quail intact. Every bird Zeke retrieves looks like it was beaten for 20 minutes with a meat mallet!

Owned a GSP for 9 years but will never be able to bring myself to another .... simply hurt "TOO BAD" when he closed his eyes for the last time on the Vets table .... was my truest friend in almost 55 years on this rock ....GodSpeed Bailey !!!! Brits make great flushing dogs .... and I have to admit that 'Stash is the only Brit I've ever hunted behind that did NOT require full chokes for upland hunting ..... Zeke and Riley put on quite a show in Alabama last December ...... but this year will be "the year of the Setter" !!!!! Be Safe All, Jimmy B.

Destry, Won't be making the trek up to Hidden Hollow this year. Just returned from the Southern, have a wife on crutches and a 9 year old that consumes the remainder of my time between shooting skeet at the gun club and playing baseball. You gonna make it to the Vintagers this year? Still waiting for you to make an appearance in Sanford again.

For those who weren't in attendance here's a summary of the Alabama hunt-- Baumohl, Baker, Duke, Zeke, and Rigby performed admirably, as evidenced by the pile of birds taken on their side of the field. The other contingent was comprised of Will and Skip Dunlap, Stash, and myself, as well as Mr. Ambercrombie and Fitch, bedecked with all manner of whistles, lanyards, electronic controls, the latest in outdoor clothing, and NO GUN!!!! Our group contributed to the total bag, but not to the extent that we may have if we had had another shooter (Will bagged his first quail ever !) Rumor has it that Mr A & F was intimidated by his score on the sub-gauge Clays course at the Southern 2011, and chose to handle Stash instead of Showing his *** again ! If we had another shooter Dunlap would have been cooking quail BOTH days at the Southern last month !!!!!

I chose not to carry a gun as I was focusing my attention on working my dog, trying to keep Skip from shooting his out of frustration and keeping an eye on William, as well as taking photographs. I believe a certain someone named Richard was too scared to shoot the small bore course this year at the Southern.

It's a rough life to live for a dog around my house. Stash is sound asleep in the bed, on his back, head in my lap and snoring. I know some who keep their bird dog(s) outside in the kennel year round. They say that making a bird dog into a pet will ruin them in the field. Stash lives in the house in the AC. He sleeps in the bed, follows me from room to room, eats ice cream off my spoon with me and is treated better than some people treat their kids. But put his hunting collar on and head out to the field and he turns into a bird hunting machine.

I don't know what to think of a guy who would go out and spend good money for a setter when I offered to give him Stash's brother & namesake "CB" only because the dog was a bit "plump" as a puppy.Oh well, I wonder how many LCSCA photographs we will see this Setter in? We really do need a different mascot.
