The 16 ga. OO did it again. 30 paces and one harvested 24 LB, 11 1/2" beard. Thanks to wonderful calling by my son Jimmy III.

congratulations on such a nice turkey...i tried to down load the pictures but it want work for some reason... i too got a turkey this morning 20 lbs 11 1/2 inch beard really thick and 1 inch spurs a 3 year old bird by my thinking...this was the last day of the season here in mississippi in the county i live in...was beginning to think i was going to close it out with a big 0.... hope you get another one with that 16 i got mine with a old 12 at about 20 foot.... charlie

Nice turkey Charlie. It's always nice to get an older bird. They don't get that way by being stupid. My bird had strange spurs. Only about 3/4" long, but blackened about 1/2 way down and sharp and pointy. I haven't seen one here in KY like that before. Normally a bird like this would have 1'-1 1/4" spurs...The season in KY was really screwed up. Locals told me they saw them breeding in Feb. The hens were almost all on the nest, with NO yelping going on. If a hunter yelped the turkeys all ran the other way. A light purr and soft cluck was the only apparent occassional attractor. Waiting to see status here in MA, and in ME. Safe shooting. Jim...
