Grade 2E Questions

My brother is checking out a 12 guage Grade 2E for possible purchase. The serial# is 3765 . I place the date of manufacture between 1899 and 1901, does this seem about right? Second ,the barrels may have been replaced, they are marked ACCIAIO SPECIALE S.I.R.U. and are 31 1/2 inches long, M&F . Any thoughts on the barrels ? Thanks, John

John, I would say 1899 would be right. I have s/n 3400 and that is 1899. As for the barrels, I believe they are Italian and the length is a common size there, 80 centimeters. This may have the first series ejectors- a factor in the purchase price.
